| EXPERIENCE THE LOOP |
|
The Loop is an eclectic six-block neighborhood filled with dining, shopping and entertainment choices - more than 140 establishments in all. Named after the streetcars that “looped around” to return to St. Louis more than a century ago, today The Loop is recognized as “One of the Top Ten Great Streets in America” by the American Planning Association. Whether it’s retail therapy at one of its many boutiques and shops, noshing on anything from sushi to gyros, or browsing its art galleries, The Loop is a one-stop entertainment district. Here you’ll find ten music stages welcoming performances throughout the year, including The Pageant, The Delmar and Blueberry Hill (right across St. Louis’ own Walk of Fame), which has seen a fair share of both local and national bands—from Chuck Berry to Led Zeppelin. The Loop is also home to St. Louis’ own Walk of Fame, which showcases the city’s cultural heritage with bronze stars and plaques: Josephine Baker, Miles Davis, Maya Angelou and Redd Foxx are some of the lauded names gracing the walk. Another new attraction here is the Delmar Loop Planet Walk, a scale model of the solar system stretching 2,880 feet that begins with the sun at the Moonrise Hotel and ends with Neptune at Cicero’s Restaurant. Signposts with tidbits and facts mark the location of each planet. Click here to learn more about downtown St. Louis’ famous district known as The Loop. |
